Today, representatives of several organizations of women’s rights protection held a protest in front of General Prosecution’s Office demanding to resume the hearing and review the circumstances of Maro Guloyan’s suicide in Kotayk Marz.
The review of the court decision regarding quashal of M. Guloyan’s suicide case was planned for today at the Abovyan court, but two hours before the hearing, the lawyer Lusine Minasyan, who was protecting the interests of successor of M. Guloyan at the court, was told that the hearing is postponed. “I received a call that the proceedings conducting entity had not submitted the materials of the criminal case and the session will not take place. This was a deliberate step, notifying two hours before the meeting is not normal. They could have made steps on receiving the materials of the case on time. The proceedings conducting body does improper steps. During the hearing, the witnesses obviously lied and gave testimony contradicting each other, and the proceedings conducting body turned a blind eye and decided to dismiss the case”,-said L. Minasyan.
Among contradicting testimonies she separated first of all the testimonies of her husband’s relatives related to discovery of Maro’s body. “Uncle’s wife was telling that she was the first to discover, then they told that uncle’s daughter had found it. There were inconsistencies associated with the time of finding the body. We demand that the case is reviewed in Yerevan, because we are not sure that the case is conducted objectively in Abovyan, based on the fact that the victim’s husband’s family is in relations with the local authorities”.
The representative of “Society Without Violence” NGO Anna Nikoghosyan said that they would investigate the circumstances of Maro’s suicide. “She was subjected to violence for a long time, her husband was a gambler, he was constantly asking for money from her, Maro was living in the atmosphere filled with violence. Her relatives also said that it is impossible to have committed suicide. Or, there was the basis for suicide, or it was a homicide. In the meantime, we can not assume one of two hypotheces, but this story has something dark in it that needs to be disclosed”.
Today the representative of M. Guloyan’s successor L. Minasyan submitted their written request to the General Prosecutor’s Office. The Deputy Prosecutor Mnatsakan Sargsyan accepted her. He offered to transfer the removal of dismissal decision to the prosecutor’s office and the prosecutor’s office will deal with it, but the lawyer preferred option of appeal at courts. The Deputy Prosecutor said that they will support that the materials from archive are sent to the court earlier.
