The Court of First Instance of Malatia-Sebastia administrative district resumed the criminal trial against RA citizen Vardan Martirosyan, citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran Sargez Noyuk Anduanian and Vigen Novasartians. They were accused of supporting and transporting 90 kg of drugs to Armenia. As we have reported in our previous publications, the accuser Aram Amirzadyan had interceded for 15 years in prison for Sargez Anduanian, 13 years in prison for Vigen Novasartians, and 12 years in prison for Vardan Martirosyan. The supporter Vardan Martirosyan refused from a defense speech, he also refused from the the right to the last word, saying that he wants to make an additional testimony. The court resumed the trial and today Vardan Martirosyan gave his testimony. He was working at the “Zvartnots” airport cargo section.
Vardan said that it was his duty to formulate the load. He said that Sargez had promised to tell the truth, but he did not tell during the investigation and at the court how it really happened that he did the formulation. He said that he was not aware of what kind of load Sargez is transporting, but he made a self-confessedly guilty that he filled the formulation with an other passport. “If you want I can make an oath on the Bible, switch me to a lie detector that I am telling the truth.”,- said he. He said that Sargez was a very old man, an Armenian, and it was his fault to try to help him. He turned to the accuser asking to consider his testimony and change his position. The accuser Aram Amirzadyan said that he has told in his speech for the prosecution, and insists on it completely, although he will review his petition and will charge confiscation of not co-ownership property but of USD 2400 dollars. The day for the defense speeches was not yet determined when Vardan Martirosyan’s mother almost lost consciousness, and the father was asking the court to act as a witness.
People from the hall were shouting: “the Customs people in Meghri are to blame”, “Scum, did you like it?”, “My family is destroyed, why do you put Vardan into prison.” During the next court session, which was scheduled on July 11, Sergey Mkrtchyan, the defendant of the accused Vardan Martirosyan, will make a defense speech, and then the court will again pass to the last words.
