“Should the military attorney examines execution of his obligations, should he assess how he is working? It’s ridiculous”, – so replied the member of “Army in Reality”group Tsovinar Nazaryan to the question of Aravot.am whether she is going to participate in the activities of the working group initiated by the military prosecutor’s office of Armenia, which will be investigating criminal cases of death documented in the Armed Forces of Armenia. Let’s mention that the military prosecutor’s office, today, issued a statement which states that the working group will examine the cases in which the final decisions were made after January
1st, 2011. Especially this fact seemed illogical for Ts. Nazaryan, because the military prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan has assumed his office since January 13, 2011. In this connection, our interlocutor said,- “I think that as a supervisory body, the body overseeing the activities of MD Investigation Service, the body presenting accuses, the military prosecutor’s office, failed, including during the tenure of G. Kostanyan.
So, he had decided to explore the works of of his own activities. The NGOs have long ago given the assessment of the Military Prosecutor’s Office activities: its just a shame for him.” With regard to the issue of participation in the activities of the working group, Ts. Nazaryan conveyed following: “I am not involved in any NGO. And the statement of the Military Prosecutor’s Office provided clear standards, on the condition that at least for three years it should be dealing with these issues and so on.” We inquired what scenario is the initiative of establishing this working group. Ts. Nazarian said,- “I have some guessing. They are related to the fact that the term of office of the Prosecutor General is ending, and it is possible that the place remains vacant, and Kostanyan is preparing a place for himself. In addition, the fact that the investigation related to the incident at Liska’s house was assigned to Kostanyan, and it will be the review of his loyalty to the authorities. I think he resolves the issues of his future career progression as an Attorney General of Armenia in the future.”
