Levon Zurabyan clarifies his relationship with Hrant Bagratyan

July 05,2013 20:54

ANC leader Levon Zurabyan, in the interview with Aravot.am, provided indepth clarifications about his relationship with Hrant Bagratyan and that why the ANC has left a friend of struggle, like Bagratyan. To our questions as to when Hrant Bagratyan makes a speech at the National Assembly or is making any comment, the RPA member become tensed to listen and to able to respond to his arguments. Do you acknowledge that the weight of Hrant Bagratyan is quite heavy in the National Assembly, why did the Congress dismiss such an economist or a political figure? Levon Zurabyan disagreed, arguing,- “Absolutely there is no such a thing. I always recommend him to speak on economic issues on behalf of the faction. During the last session of the last day I had recommended him to speak on behalf of the faction”.

Levon Zurabyan assured that the connection with Hrant Bagratyan is not cut. “Simply he did not consider it appropriate, and it is his right. But do not look for in a severe political reasons here. We proposed normally, and he may not agree, ultimately, all MR members are free.” To our observation that when Hrant Bagratyan was nominated, the congressmen were already considering him a traitor, Levon Zurabyan again disagreed. To remind you that the mass of ANC supporters raised a serious wave against him in the entire Facebook, Levon Zurabyan answered,- “There might be one or two people who have done something, and you name them the supporters of mass appeal. When separate people may have their individual opinions, and post their personal view on their Facebook page, is quite possible.

But I’m beg you, let’s stay away from delusion, never think that it is possible to make a conclusion about the mood dominant in the political power and the official position by the posts of a few people on Facebook page. Impression is a deceptive thing.” To our observation that the only thing that you did not support him during nomination, left him alone, already speaks about the attitude, Levon Zurabyan countered by saying that we distort,- “It’s not that we did not support, we gathered in the Congress, then we were still a block, we convened the regular session. When Ter-Petrosyan announced that he is not nominated, just the other day we gathered to discuss the situation and decide. Everything was clear with Ter-Petrosyan’s case, if he was nominated, all the parties had announced that they will support him, but in the case of another candidate, they should have to discuss and make a decision what the Congress should do.

By consensus, it is not that a party hesitated; by the consensus, all political parties adopted a resolution that it is not appropriate to endorse any candidate under created conditions as such. What could we do, it was the party consensus decision of the Congress. And I, as an ANC coordinator, was obliged to obey the decision and execute the decision. Who can be blamed for it?” To our observation that there is a human-moral side, and taking into account that since the foundation of the Congress Hrant Bagratyan had been your friend in struggle, how would you explain for leaving a friend in struggle alone, he replied,- “It’s not like he was left alone. Many have gone and yoked under this campaign, regardless of the decision, so it is vain to do something like that.” At the end, Levon Zurabyan assured that the campaign of the power creates an impression that there is a contempt for Hrant Bagratyan, and in reality it was not so.
