The President of the Constitutional Court Gagik Harutyunyan, recently speaking of the recent presidential election violations, made such statement: “No election has been perfect, you will not see such conclusions in our decisions. You will not see in reality that any country’s Constitutional Court has declared national elections invalid. You will never see such a fact. During the last presidential elections, 33 thousand people participated in the election processes, only one who during signing has written that does not agree with the protocol. Others have signed the protocols, and no reasonable argument was submitted to the Constitutional Court whether they have signed under pressure, or it was not their will.”
Today, with regard to this, in conversation with Aravot.am, the “Heritage” party member Anahit Bakhshyan said that this statement is special to a power where any body, even the Constitutional Court, is not independent. “In our country, the Constitutional Court as a defender of the Constitution, the letter of constitutional right, the spirit protecting body, is absent. She confirms the simple truth, the simple reality that in our country the Constitutional Court is not a defender of the Constitution, but protects the government from people, although it is stipulated by the Constitution that the government belongs to people.” The fact that no one out of 33 thousand people participated in the electoral process complained, and everyone signed under the protocols, except for 1 person, according to Mrs. Bakhshyan, representatives of “Heritage” have retained all the complaints and collected materials. I am not convinced that just one did not sign. For example, I was the proxy from the “Heritage” party for the elections in Shengavit community, and have collect a lot of records. Our member was in Shengavit community who did not sign and did not give its consent, consequently, it is not already one. But even if 33 thousand have not signed, it’s all the same, our Constitutional Court was not going to admit and announce the truth.”
