In a conversation with Aravot.am, the Chairman of ANC Foreign Relations Committee Vladimir Karapetyan referring to Aghvan Hovsepyan’s speech about the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, in which he specified that “The Republic of Armenia should get its lost territories,” he said,- “I’m surprised that the head of the ministry who presented illegal charges against hundreds of political prisoners comes up with such serious matters, rather than dealing with the issues of his office, he has gone far to the sector and speaks about a sector that he has no idea about, and this statement may cause uncertainty to our partners and other countries with whom we cooperate. Perhaps the prosecutor wanted to remind about the shameful failure of Serzh Sargsyan that any country has not gone close to the recognition of the genocide for nearly three years. In general, the recognition of the genocide during his leadership has reached a shameful destination, it is subjected to oblivion. I think that the prosecutor and his supervisor first and foremost should think about it.” In respond to our observation as to, in your opinion, who should have come up with such a statement, only MFA, or someone else can afford to make such a statement, Karapetyan said,- “We have foreign policy priorities. There is no such a provision there. Well, if the SIS or the Police Patrol leaders spoke about our merging, it is possible to imagine how serious our officials are about Armenia’s foreign reputation.”
