On July 5, the RA Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan making a speech at the second Pan-Armenian Forum of Lawyers entitled “Ahead of the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide”, said,- “The Republic of Armenia should get its lost territories.” Many politicians have been talking about this, but it is the first time that the head of the country’s power
structure is making such a claim publicly. To the questions of Aravot.am whether it may be perceived as if Yerevan official point of view, and what impact the Prosecutor’s demanding speech will have, if we take into account the fact that the issue of recognition or non-recognition of the Armenian Genocide is often considered a tool to exert a political pressure on Turkey, the Director of Regional Studies Center Richard Kirakosyan said: “No, actually, some comments of the Prosecutor cannot be considered as official views. He can not afford to come up with such dangerous statements. To my thinking, such matters are reserved only to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the RA President.”
