The correspondent Olga Skabeeva’s reportage over “Rossia” TV channel “Vesti” news program regarding the accident taken place near Podolsk really aroused the anger of the Armenians. This material is a classic example of how one cannot prepare a reportage, in particular, taking into account that we, journalists, are not judges, nor prosecutors, and even if you’re not a journalist, you have to take into account that racism and xenophobia are not allowed by RF laws. Of course, no one is so naive not to understand that the journalist of an official TV channel would not prepare such a report “spontaneously”, and if she was instructed to “prove” that the Armenians are the world’s best nation, the same girl would do it with the same enthusiasm. By the way, the same journalist is used by the authorities of Russia to “pick” the country’s opposition.
And again, I have to state that it is purely a Russian phenomenon, and that kind of “journalism” also blossoms in Armenia. In this case, it is not so much important whether the journalists working with this manner are paid directly from Baghramyan 26, or from the “polite bureau” opposition parties, or the brains of the authors in these places are just washed enough, some ideas are “injected” so much that they prepare their materials of ‘skabaeeva’ style by “autopilot”.
What is the main feature of such approach to reality? Not to see any nuances and any branching in any person, a phenomenon, and a fact. For instances, if a person is a ‘positive hero’, it is excluded that a critical word will be written about him or his thoughts. And vice versa, if a person is an anti-hero, it is prohibited not only to think that he might have a positive display, but also to allow expressing his and his supporters’ opinion. Let’s say, if the same Olga (let’s assume purely theoretically) would like to write something in “Aravot” in response to criticism raised here (in the range of correctness, of course), then I would provide a space for her, without hesitation. Some might say that I am the microphone of Russian chauvinism, who she is to write something in the Armenian newspaper and so on. But if I also think so, then I would not differ greatly from Olga. By the way, I would not differ even if I write swearwords against this woman, as almost all Armenian users in the Internet do it.
The majority of my colleagues and readers will, probably, disagree with me on that. But I think if you ‘principally’ refuse to see the nuances of the reality, you can not understand the reality. And how shall we tell our readers or TV viewers about the things that we do not understand ourselves?
