Accused of appropriating funds of “Mkhitaryan Unity”

According to the “DataLex” informational website, Artak Paytyan, born in 1974, registered in the village Norashen and residing in the city of Yerevan, was charged for the fact that being the manager of Choratan and Norashen Branches of “Mkhitaryan Unity” NGO, as an official person, abusing his official position, with the intention of embezzling funds allocated by “Mkhitaryan Unity” NGO, has not informed “Mkhitaryan Unity” NGO about termination of the dance club activities established in Choratan branch since September 2011, and until October 2012, inclusive, has included the activities of non-existing dance club in the financial statement to be submitted to the NGO, and has received 32 thousand drams per month, total of 448 thousand drams as a salary to be paid to the club teacher Never Khachatryan, and has appropriated it.

According to presented accusations, on March 2011, A. Paytyan established the “Mkhitaryan Unity” educational and cultural branch in the village Norashen, which operated until May 2012, inclusive, the cessation of activity of which he did not inform, and from June 2012 up to October 2012, inclusive, he was receiving a salary of 87 thousand drams from “Mkhitaryan Unity” NGO for the teachers of 4 groups of actually closed clubs, and appropriated it. In addition, from June 2012 up to December 2012, inclusive, he received a total of 133 thousand drams from “Mkhitaryan Unity” NGO under the name of actually closed club of Choratan branch, and, in the form of a waste, has paid to the chess club teacher, his kinsman Volodya Paytyan.

Previously non-convicted A. Paytyan was charged according to the RA Criminal Code Article 179, Clause 2, Items 1 and 3 (“Squandering or embezzlement, which was committed with abuse of official position, in a large amount”) and the same Article, Clause 2, Item 1. As a preventive measure against him, they choose to take his signature of not abandoning the country. The first court session of this case was set for August 2 at the Court of First Instance of Berd, Tavush Marz.
