Petros Makeyan finds that those remembering the referendum of 1995, leaving the shameful elections of 1998 behind are mentally disordered.
“Those initiating such things are complaisant. No matter how much I have criticized Levon Ter-Petrosyan before 1998 and after 2011, nevertheless, Levon Ter-Petrosyan remains the founder president, winning president. I think that to speak about the elections of 1995 and referendum after all sequential processes of the so-called shameful elections since 1998, it is just an initiative of people with mental disorder,”- so expressed his opinion Petros Makeyan, former ANC member, president of “Democratic motherland” party, in a conversation with Aravot.am, regarding the petition organized against Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
As we have informed, RA citizens organized such an initiative, where the text reads: “I, a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, join the lawsuit against Levon Ter-Petrosyan that he falsifying the Constitutional Referendum in 1995 took the power from the people.”
Petros Makeyan said, “These people are not citizens, that are obedient slaves, and still call them citizens. They are complaisant. What is their initiative going to change, what benefit the country will get from it? In this case, let them rebel against October 27, then against March 1, 2008. This complaisant are more dangerous than our enemies standing on the border.”

To our observation that there are reproaches in the society that the criminal started from Vazgen Sargsyan, the beginning of elections violations was set by Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Petros Makeyan answered,- “I have started criticizing Levon Ter-Petrosyan since 1996, after the presidential elections. At the time, I was an ANM member, we called for special parliamentary elections, in order to discharge the public. Since then there were problems with Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s policy, and I have also criticized since 2011, remember. But let the next authorities correct what he started during these 19 years. What he did was a child’s play, compared to what is done today.”
In recent days, Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s name is regularly circulated in the bad context. The NKR Defense Minister said that Levon Ter-Petrosyan visited Artsakh only in 1996, i.e., only two years after the armistice. To our questions why his name is now regularly rotated in a bad contexts, whether he is a threat to the political field, Petros Makeyan answered,- “First of all, I definitely know that Levon Ter-Petrosyan has not gone to Artsakh in 1996. He had been there during the war, but it does not matter, there would be no victory without the president. Now that Robert Kocharyan or Serzh Sargsyan at that time had been mostly in Karabakh, have they done more than Levon Ter-Petrosyan has? What has it to do with being or not being? It is true that the change in the value system is going on, which is too sad. To be headed by Zurabyan Lyovik, all that is done to our party, their moral value system is absolutely unacceptable for me. But in all cases we must be rightous.”
