Iranians were sentenced to a long-term imprisonment

The criminal trial against two citizens of the Islamic Republic Sargez Noyuk Anduanian, Vigen Shasha Novasartians and a citizen of the Republic of Armenia Vardan Martirosyan ended at the Court of General Jurisdiction of Ajapnyak and Davtashen Administrative Districts on 20 August.

Judge Karen Farkhoyan announced the verdict. To remind that Sargez Noyuk Andounian was accused that attempting to transport drugs from Islamic Republic of Iran to other countries and sell there, “had come to an agreement” with the driver, a resident of the city of Tabriz Vigen Shasha Novasartians, decided to find the Republic of Armenia as a transit route for transporting drugs. The drugs were then to be transported to other states. According to the supporter of accusation, the prosecutor of the RA Attorney General’s Office Aram Amirzadyan, the employee of the airport Vardan Martirosyan assisted them in transporting the drugs. As per evidences obtained by the case, the Iranians had fitted 90 kg. drugs into the piano, without let and hindrance reached the airport from Goris customs point.

Culprit Vardan Martirosyan is saying that he was involved in formulation of the good, he did not know and it was not his duty to know what is inside the piano. And the Iranian driver said to the court crying that it was not the driver’s duty to check the load of the passenger. According to the verdict delivered by Judge Karen Farkhoyan, 78-year-old Sargez Anduanyan was sentenced to 14 years in prison, Vigen Novasartians, 11 year, and Vardan Martirosyan, 4.5 years in prison. Defense side has not yet received the judicial act, but according to our information, they intend to appeal against the verdict of the First Instance.
