Today, the members of “Nikol Aghbalyan” Student Union left the Government building appointing the day of the next protest march. On September 5, they will go to the Residence of the President of Armenia to request an answer, this time, from the President of Armenia.
Before leaving, the Government representative Alexander Ghazaryan, personally, listened to the students and took their written request-letter.
“Last time you also answered, but it was a very destructive answer, and we are deeply concerned,” – said the Chairman of Student Union Gerasim Vardanyan when handing the letter to the government representative.
Mr. Ghazaryan was also interested as to how many student there are among the crowd, in response, the students said,- “We all are students, some students were afraid, and did not come. You had ordered to close the doors of the university, everywhere a lieutenant-colonel was standing … you are not coming out of the rooms, Facebook and Facebook like Ashotyan, hey man, come to the university, and see what’s going on.”
Mr. Ghazaryan invited them to the reception to talk about the issues in more detail, but the students refused. Later they told the reason for the denial to Aravot.am,- “We do not negotiations in the backstage like others, we are negotiating in the streets because our government is used to solve the problems in the street, and such governments needs to speak with in the street.”
To our observation that today very few university students joined the protest march, the Chairman of the Student Union Gerasim Vardanyan disagreed,- “They were very few, the students were a great number, there was a command that they will be closing the doors of the universities so that the students do not come out of the universities, not to join us.”
Today, the doors of the universities were open, and many students had come down and were following the protest march in the yards of the universities, but they were smiling and quickly leaving, when the journalists were asking whether they will join such actions, or whether they do not complain of the rise of tuition.
