“Being ready to concede the sovereignty and independence of Armenia for the sake of preservation of their own power is an anti-constitutional move and a ground for bringing charges of the state treason”,- so spoke the head of HCA Vanadzor office, lawyer Arthur Sakunts, in the interview with Aravot.am, assessing the opinion of a member of the Republican Party, former MP Rafik Petrosyan that “We must preserve our independence, but to resolve some general issues, we can concede some parts of the independence, some attributes like the states in the world are doing by yielding a small part of their independence and establishing a Union”.
He said that it was necessary to read the document, and then opine. “Should they have at least studied the founding document of the Eurasian Economic Union, they would see that there is no value system in the document that is consistent with our Constitution, Article 1, which says “a democratic, legal, social, sovereign state.”
Mr. Sakunts also referring to liabilities of making decision of Customs Union member-states, said, – “The position of the RF has a priority role in decision-making process made by transnational, trans-governmental entities of Eurasian Economic Union, because the votes are divided among 40 – RF, 15 – Uzbekistan, 15 – Kazakhstan, Tajikistan – 7.5 and 7.5 – Kyrgyzstan. In other words, the RF has apparent predominance. The trans-governmental are binding for the member states. Entering into the Union, we do not compromise the elements of sovereignty or independence, but lose the independence. You must totally abide by all decisions of these trans-governmental entities, in which the RF has the priority. From this point of view, entry into the Customs Union is clearly contrary to the first and second Articles of the RA Constitution.”
To our observation that if the ruling wing, so far, was not so explicitly speaking about losing the elements of independence, now they speak out, does this mean that they are preparing something for the public, Mr. Sakunts answered,- “There is no concept of ruling wing. There is a person who, alone decides, he is the wing, the head, the neck, other parts of the body. Others just serve his actions or whimsies. Such an approach, when a person without consulting, taking the opinion into account, makes a decision, then, is coming and explaining back dated, and it is accepted, speaks about the times of politbureau. It speaks to the fact that this slavish situation to obey the master or the leader is a dominant psychology for the group, who are only servers.”
