“The march did not have a definite initiative group, it was on the democratic principle. Three times they gathered at the Mashtots Park and decided to assemble in such a format. It was against the dangers threatening the independence, and as far as the last danger was the decision of joining the Customs Union, the march was also against the Customs Union”,- so explained the member of “Independence march” initiative group Marine Petrosyan, in an interview with Aravot.am, referring to the “Independence march” organized on September 21, regarding the claims of ANC member Karen Tovmasyan, according to which the march was directed against Serzh Sargsyan.
Detailing, M. Petrosyan said,- “There were people who did not want to emphasize that the march against Serzh Sargsyan, others did not want to emphasize that it was against the Customs Union. So, to this point was united and made an emphasis and formulation that the march was against the statement on September 3. Everyone was entitled to express his opinion, that’s why it turned out to be a patchy picture.” Personally, Marine Petrosyan, was strongly against Serzh Sargsyan’s statement on September 3. Clarifying the thought, our interlocutor said,- “I’m strongly against it not because that the decision in the future may obstruct the sovereignty, but I am also against the form of the statement when you are talking about the Association Agreement for four years, within one minute, you changed the decision. This means that you have lost the sovereignty.
Hence, we need to bring forward the issue of Serge Sargsyan’s dismissal. Only then we will return the sovereignty.” Referring to the process of the rally, Marine Petrosyan said,- “The policemen were demanding us to get on the pavement. It was offensive, also psychologically unpleasant when you are pushed on the sidewalk, henceforth, everyone by natural drive was going to the street, and it was good. And so it should be, because right on the Independence Day you could not be suppressed, that the police officers were walking along the street from both sides and you’re like in a jail. They did not let them to come close on Komitas 26, there were some who wanted to break there, it was a natural desire, I would also like to, but I was not allowed.” Talking about the future steps, Marine Petrosyan informed that today they are going to meet in the Mashtots Park for discussion.
