They keep asking the President
Opposition MP Ani Zakharyan referred a question to the President of Armenia Armen Ashotyan from the UN Security Council tribune whether it is right that the President’s wife is using shampoo of 1000 dollars. Mr. Ashotyan expressed readiness to share the shampoo in half in a separate bottle and transfer it to Ms. Zakharyan. Karen Avagyan, head of the Republican Party faction, qualified the issue as a betrayal of national interests and an Azerbaijani provocation. And the opposition MP, arriving at “Zvartnots” airport, stated that she was able to voice the most important issue of concern to citizens of Armenia from the international tribune, and the change of power in Armenia will commence from the shampoo.
By the order of RA President, former MP, member of ARF Bureau Artsvik Minasyan is appointed Chief of Police of Armenia. During the meeting with the journalists, Mr. Minasyan assured that ARF will remain in the opposition party, and in his new position, he will continue to pursue the matters of the Armenian Cause.
PACE Speaker John Prescott and former President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, arriving in Armenia, visited the “Nubarashen” penitentiary facility and met with Tigran Sargsyan’s government members, who are sentenced to prison for 7-10 years for signing contracts non-profitable for the state. Mr. Lukashenko said that the former ministers, from the European prospective, are viewed as political prisoners, and urged the authorities of Armenia to release them, adding that the European integration prospects of our country depend on them.

The Speaker of the National Assembly Hovhannes Sahakyan nominated former governor of Syunik, Surik Khachatryan, for the position of President of Human Rights Defender of Armenia, specially emphasizing that the candidate to the ombudsman, in his entire conscious life, was fighting against the atmosphere of violence, impunity and arbitrariness. In his closing speech, Mr. Khachatryan did not deny that, in his past activities, he had to kill several citizens of Armenia, but he did it based on considerations of pure self-defense, about which he has relevant references from the military prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan. The opposition factions stated that they would vote against Khachatryan’s candidacy. As a result, the former governor of Syunik, based on closed secret ballot, is unanimously elected the Ombudsman.
