If one follows recent news, may get the impression that Armenia’s the most important issue is that in our country there are men and women who prefer to live not with a representative of the opposite but their own sex. However, to this effect, our “national figures” decided to save our identity, morality and family.
Some facts prove that boomed ‘anti-homosexual’ talks are somehow related to the intensity of strong winds blowing from the north. About a month ago, on September 19, at a forum held in Valda, Vladimir Putin expressed concerns regarding perversion of the West. “Moral principles are denied, as well as any traditional identity: national, cultural, religion and even sex,” – said the President of Russia.
To say that such problems do not exist in the West at all, of course, would be unfair. But this is the case when we need to see the beam of log in our own eyes: human and civil identity disappear faster during the regimes of corruption and dictatorship, in the presence of permissiveness of small and big “bosses”. Putin finished this part of his speech with the following joke, “Berlusconi is judged because he is living with women. If he were a gay, nobody would touch him.” Although it is a joke, but also a distortion of reality. Berlusconi was judged for machination, and he was accused of not living with women, but for having sexual relationships with underage girls. In short, the desire is obvious: to reimburse the serious economic problems of own country and technological backwardness in comparison with the West with “ideological-spiritual-moral” talks.
And thus, a number of pro-government activists in Armenia, also intellectuals and clergymen, attracted by these northern breezes, probably, want to prove that, in contrast to “perverted” Europe, the Customs Union is a place of high morals and flourishing spiritual values. To that end, they made up some “gender” issues that as if “perverted” West, “power centers”, “Masonic lodges” want to force us to accept homosexuality promoting laws. (the West, probably, does not have any other problem). As far as people whose intellect I do not doubt, repeat the story, I tend to assume that Russia had somehow stirred their interest.

Let’s recall that the Constitution of the EU active member Poland says that marriage can be registered only between a man and a woman, and no one is going to make Poles to change the rule. To this effect, we are also safe. Another matter that the legislation in Poland, Armenia, Russia and dozens of other countries (in particular, the Council of Europe members) prohibits discriminatory attitude towards any minority. If the “defenders of national identity” are against it, let him say so.
Against the ‘customs-gender’ background, the “yellow” rumors about high-rank officials of being homosexual have been intensified. What is more important: that the officials and their relatives who take bribes, do not steal money from the budget, do not intrude in various businesses, work productively, or the fact of whom they sleep with.
