The term of Vardan Minasyan’s employment contract for the position of head coach for Armenia’s national football team expires on October 31. Today, Vardan Minasyan has stated in the official website of the FFA that he has met with FFA President Ruben Hayrapetyan and informed that “he is not going to lead Armenia’s national team in the new selection stage.” Aravot.am asked its Armenian football commentator colleagues to express their opinion on how Vardan Minasyan’s leaving will impact on future activities of our team. Armen Nikoghosyan, “Armenian Times” daily: “It’s hard to say anything now. It all depends on who the new coach of the team will be”, said our colleague. To our question that during a press conference FFA President Ruben Hayrapetyan expressed the idea that as long as he is the president of the football federation, he will keep working with Vardan Minasyan.
This decision of the head coach can make us assume that, however, he has a contradiction with the federation, Nikoghosyan answered, “I do not see a scandalous thing in it. If we think this way, then we need to look for controversies in anywhere. The man does not want to work. He has worked for four years, has created a team. Perhaps he has got tired or the team has got tired of him. The reasons may be many. Just a moment comes when you need to apart. It is not something new in the world football. The coaches are, playing are playing, and then leaving.”
Football commentator Armen Melikbekyan also refrained from expressing an early opinion noting that “We have to wait and see as to what policy and new coach will FFA choose. Only then can we make judgments.” To the question of how he evaluates Vardan Minasyan’s performance in the position of the national team’s head coach, Armen Melikbekyan answered, “I evaluate the facts. Vardan Minasyan is the most successful coach of our team. The results speak for themselves. He has showed the best result in the history of our football.”
P.S. Vardan Minasyan, in fact, has not resigned, according to the information posted in FFA webpage, just upon the expiration of his contract, although FFA president offered to take over the leadership of the team again, he prefers a career in another sequel. “There are a number of proposals, particularly from abroad and I would like to discuss these proposals,” said Vardan Minasyan in FFA website.
