At the joint press conference with the Prime Minister of neighboring country, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, on a visit to Georgia, first praised Ivanishvili for his willingness to resign from his position, and then talked about the fact that there should be no place for revenge in the European society, and the opposition is the integral part of the state democratic system. part of the state Democratic system. The formulation is quite diplomatic, but the meaning, as I understand, is as follows: in normal countries, the power and the opposition regularly replace each other, from the perspective of the state they are not antagonist, they equally present the political system. After the change of power, those who came to power should not revenge on those who left the power. In this case, the matter is that after the presidential elections in Georgia, which will take place next Sunday, we should not ‘catch’ Saakashvili and his near ones (such rumors are circulating). This is probably what Sikorski is alluding. In my opinion, one of the guarantees for further successful developments of Georgia is that Saakashvili is not pursued, and will have the opportunity to carry out activities as an opposition (of course, if he wants to).
Change of power at the time of independent Armenia took place on February 1998. At that moment, the Dashnaks, who were persecuted until then, were burning from desire of revenge towards ‘previous criminal regime’, the same feelings, not so pronounced, were with CRU and NDU. Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan also had the problem of taking revenge. Ter-Petrosyan and his near ones have had high positions, they might have maybe sometimes they looked awry at Kocharyan or have insulted him. This is a sufficient ground for a person of such temperament to take revenge. And, since February 1998, the propaganda hysteria began, witch-hunting, the calls to destroy “people’s blood suckers” and so on. This atmosphere logically resulted in October 27, 14th year of which is marked this Sunday. Let’s hope that both we and our neighbors will be able to avoid this “vindictive atmosphere.”
Where this atmosphere kindles from, it is hard to say for me. Some people think that it comes from outside. But I’m more inclined to think that it comes from inside, inside each of us. The bacterium is sitting there, “inside”. Or, as the poet would say central-cerebral-spider.
