Argishti Kiviryan, coordinator of “Armenia Today” website, was not surprised at the assertion of Mayor Taron Margaryan made yesterday regarding the inevitability of rising transport prices, “Should they have the opportunity in their hands, they would rise the transport rate not in AMD 150, but AMD 500,000. We have officials that mania for super profit, they will do their best to put the citizens of Armenia in a desperate condition. In summer, they did the first move, they raised the price and upon receiving tough response of the public, they stood back for a moment. At this moment, they are thinking that they could be able to prevent the wave of public revolt, and are trying to make the second move. The transport lines in Yerevan are sponsored by the municipality, by the representatives of the regime. There are no random owners of the line.
Price rise is made for them to get super profit and rollbacks. During the elections, these lines were serving for the authorities. Constituents were taken to the polling station by these transportation means from morning until evening. Thus, they need to reimburse those owners of the lines,” opines Mr. Kiviryan. According to him, the cost of transport services that the municipality presents do not meet the reality, “AMD 80 is enough to receive profit.” Mr. Kiviryan considers the committee discussing the issue of passenger tariff for the city Taron Margaryan’s “pocket committee”. “It is not a committee but a clownery. He had formed a body of service boys that will execute his will. Several people are involved in it, so-called independent persons who are not in a position to make difference. On the contrary, their involvement was a mistake from the beginning, because in a place where their voice is not counted, it is senseless to go out and participate in the Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan’s clownery. The Committee will do what Taron Margaryan will command, it is not an independent committee, it is Taron Margaryan’s pocket committee. Those who went and were involved, legitimize the illegal body. We must leave this illegal body to perform its illegal decision, to execute Taron Margaryan’s will, so that the public will be able to more actively avert them.” He also added that the authorities would try to prevent the new outbreaks on rise of tariff, “By conducting explanatory work through police-criminal elements, by creating an atmosphere of fear, they are prepared to prevent the outbreak.”
