Aravot.am ask the leading researcher at the Byurakan Observatory, President of the Astronomical Society of Armenia Areg Mikaelyan to comment on the rumors circulating in the media that the end of the world will be in 2014. According to the same rumors, the earth will will be destroyed by a cosmic cloud, which was predicted by the astrophysicist, Dr. Albert Shervinski from Cambridge. “This is a regular misconception. It appears that the topic on the “end of the world” has attracted many people. First, if such a cloud was really detected, moreover, its movement has been explored, there would be at least publications in astronomical journals, but there is no such thing. Secondly, there is no such an astronomer named Albert Shervinski, or, perhaps, one who had declared himself an “astronomer”, said the scientist.
