Nikolai Ryzhkov, Co-Chairman of the Armenian-Russian Parliamentary Cooperation Commission, member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russian Federation, today, voiced satisfaction at the National Assembly of Armenia regarding Armenia’s decision to enter the Customs Union. In this respect, “Aravot” asked Mr. Ryzhkov what he thinks about the statement of the President of Belarus Lukashenko in Minsk that Armenia can not join the Customs Union if the conflict with Azerbaijan is resolved. Mr. Ryzhkov asked a reverse question, “If I’m not mistaken, Lukashenko is working in Belarus.” Then, he said that he assess Armenia’s intention to enter the Customs Union positively. He also added that it is impossible to be “both here and there”, and noted that none of Armenia’s political figures would not go for it, losing its partner in the face of Russia, “we would also do not go for it,” and the fact that there are a lot of questions and problems on this path, he admits, but they can not become serious causes. We also asked Mr. Ryzhkov that there is no precedent in the world that the countries, which do not have a common border, be members of the same Customs Union, how this problem is solved, Mr. Ryzhkov said that he does not know, specialists can solve this issue, but also asserted that it was not a cause.
