Peaks of people’s monologues

November 18,2013 16:00

On Saturdays and Sundays, I go by taxis and hear “people talking.” Since, our authorities do not take a taxi, they miss the opportunity to hear it, otherwise they would learn a lot of things from this monologues.

Although, allegedly, cabdrivers would not tell all of these directly to their face what they say to me, and vice versa, they might have asked to assist in some matter. And, so, on Saturday, the cabdriver was very pleased with me, “you pickax them very well, and I have their…”

Obviously, some of my readers, at least those who are writing comments on the website and on Facebook, and especially those who live abroad and are intended to prove that Armenia is the world’s worst country, those readers do not agree with the said cabdriver. They think that I do not “pickax” the authorities, moreover, I justify them, if I’m criticizing, I do it in very mild or formal way, I do not expose their criminal nature, some of them either hint at or directly say that I am ‘serving for the regime’. My interlocutor, the cabdriver, in a word, did not think so, and when I was trying to explain that I have no intention to “pickax”, I am just talking about many of our problems in a very restrained vocabulary, he was not listening to me anymore, and was focused on the authorities with well-known formulations about poverty, migration and robbery. I do not want to repeat what was said for about 20 years: Arshak Sadoyan in 90s, today, Zaruhi Postanjyan and Nicole Pashinyan presents it in much richer colors. Just mention one of the “peaks” of this driver’s monologue: “But that Galust Sahakyan, when this man is speaking, it seems to me that he is living in defiance of me.”

Does Mr. Sahakyan know that such a perception is widespread? I’m sure he knows and is deliberately conveying a special cynicism on his word that is unknown to me.

Sanday’s cabdriver, from the beginning, asked Putin’s phone number from me. He intended to call Vladimir Putin and ask his to restore the Soviet Union, or, in the worst case, to include Armenia into the composition of the Russia.

In addition to similar traditional complaints repeating previous monologue, some was aggressed to Paruyr Hayrikyan, “Hey, spy, what can you do without Russians?” The other interesting “peak” was the following issue, “Is Amalyan alive?” When I informed him that he is safe and sound, and has received new office, where he will probably regain the chance of “pulling the knife-switch,” the driver commented, “Certainly, he will get new office, he is their sharp-cut awl.” This time, I would not want to summarize, analyze, or interpret anything. Just to recall the Scripture: every word may fall along the path, on rocky places, among thorns, and fertile soil. Both, my, your, and cabdriver’s word.
