The sixth informal meeting for journalists was held on Tuesday, 19 November 2013 at the EU Centre. The Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Traian Hristea briefed journalists about the third Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Vilnius on 28 – 29 November 2013.
In the words of the EU Ambassador Traian Hristea, the Vilnius Summit will be the summit of deliverables. “The Summit offers us and the partner countries the opportunity to take stock of the results achieved since the Eastern Partnership was launched, to analyse and draw conclusions,” Ambassador Hristea said. He added that the EU expects to sign the Association Agreement with Ukraine provided that the Council Conclusions adopted by the EU Foreign Affairs Council in December 2012 are fully met. The Association Agreements with Georgia and the Republic of Moldova are to be initialled during the Summit.
The monthly meeting for journalists is an initiative of the EU Centre, supported by the EU Delegation to Armenia. The first series of the meetings is called “The Road to Vilnius” to mark the upcoming Eastern Partnership. The format of the meeting is informal and off-the-record to encourage open discussion as an opportunity to learn more of the background.
The EU Centre is the main feature of the EU funded project “Support to the EU communication on reforms in Armenia”. Its goal is to raise awareness on EU development cooperation in Armenia and support education on the European Union. The Centre’s website is a gateway to EU cooperation with Armenia. The duration of the project is two years and it is implemented by GOPA-CartermillS.A in consortium with Altair Asesores and Fainberg LLC.
