Hovhannes Sahakyan to Levon Zurabyan. “The opposition has a problem with self-determination.”

November 22,2013 14:38

ANC leader Levon Zurabyan raised an argument request to the government , which was primarily targeted at corruption. Mr. Zurabyan put forward a number of questions to the government, namely, “Why hasn’t the government initiated an international auditing of biggest and profitable aspect of airline transportation, which will shine a light on the bankruptcy of “Armavia”?, ” Why haven’t respective agencies, so far, filed a suit for evasion of huge taxes?”, “Why wasn’t the anti-corruption strategy plan for 2009-2012 implemented?”, “Why aren’t the RA 2009-2012 Anti-Corruption Strategy program performance reports published anywhere?”, summed up Mr. Zurabyan.

“Corruption is systemic by nature and has affected the entire state system, from top to bottom,” “The state has not taken any serious step in the fight against corruption, which is due to the fact that there is no political will to combat the corruption.” Aravot.am asked the Secretary of NA RPA faction Hovhannes Sahakyan whether Levon Zurabyan’s arguments are grounded. He replied, “We have seen that at different times our opposition is trying to emphasize its opposition stance with a wider vocabulary. We have repeatedly talked about corruption noting that there is no society and a country where there is no corruption, and being well aware of its harmful effects we have combated in different ways.”

Mr. Sahakyan believes that there should be deep and radical approach in the fight against corruption, the mode of thinking needs to be changed.

Referring to the opposition, RPA MP said, “The opposition is for presenting the figures more gorgeous and expressed that everything is bad. But it would be more correct for them to speak from the constructive point of view and try to fight jointly.”

In response to Levon Zurabyan’s claim “The state does not take any serious step”, Hovhannes Sahakyan responded as follows, “If now I try to respond, it will mean that I am giving much importance to his words. Since I do not give much importance, they do not have any justification, I will just note that I do not agree and leave unanswered.”To the other assertion that “There is no political will to combat the phenomenon,” Mr. Sahakyan also gave a negative response, “One needs to have the desire to see the political will. The reforms that are underway at the Cadastеr’s office in the system of justice and prosecution are directed to the fight against corruption.”

To our specification that it turns out that the Levon Zurabyan does not want to see the good, Hovhannes Sahakyan replied, “It is not that he does not want to see, but they are opposition, they must dramatize by presenting the picture in the blackest tones. Of course, sometimes, just not having anything to say, they do not have the desire to see the work done.”

In response to Mr. Sahakyan’s observations of working jointly, we cited Levon Zurabyan’s claim that the provisions of the document between government-opposition dialogue adopted in 2011 were left unanswered, or legislative initiatives of the opposition are rejected. He retorted, “There are numerous examples of joint legislative initiative with the opposition. For example, the initiative with the guard with ARF. I do not agree that the cooperation or the call for were left unanswered.

It is a fight to be the leader and catalyst in the opposition. When they have a problem with each other, when RPA has 5-6 MPs, each of them has its own ambitions, they cannot dialogue, opposing factions have a problem with each other and associate the problem with the authorities, hence, there is a matter of presenting the reality.” Mr. Sahakyan recalled the discussion organized once at the Sports and Music Complex, to which the ANC was invited but refused to participate, and stressed, “they should have thought at the time, to attend and present their point of view.” Hovhannes Sahakyan believes that the opposition “has a problem with leadership and self-determination”, and at the same time encourages them to cooperate.
