Tigran Sargsyan about making Gyumri a closed city

The journalists asked the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited Gyumri whether Gyumri will become a closed city, in response, the Prime Minister said, “Gyumri a closed city? Gyumri has been and will remain the world’s most open city, there are no such plans to make Gyumri a closed city, and as for the visit of the President of the Russia Federation to Gyumri, we are very happy that Vladimir Putin will visit not only Yerevan, but Gyumri, as well. Secondly, you have always noticed, when high-ranking officials visit Armenia, naturally, we are planning events to make these meetings high-level, to expand and deepen our relationship. And we are convinced that such visits contribute to expansion of our friendly ties, and this visit will be just that, and it generates form the interests of our people, I’m sure, also from the interests of Gyumri residents, so I wish everyone a good mood.”

As for the Armenian-Russian economic forum to be held in Gyumri, on December 2, the Prime Minister said that leaders from different regions of Russia would visit. “Do you remember, last year, we conducted a regional forum, we are going to hold such forum this year so that the provinces of Russia would have the opportunity to learn more about capabilities of our regions, and accordingly elaborate joint projects, investment projects with joint activities, to increase trade volumes, to establish new ventures. So, this is a unique opportunity for Armenian business to introduce its capacity to their Russian colleagues, to show Armenia’s investment attraction, and attract new investments, and we should avail ourselves of this opportunity,” said Tigran Sargsyan.

As for Technopark, it will be included in the plans to be presented to Russians, the Prime Minister assured that Technopark is fully equipped with programs, and the international organizations have already submitted their applications. The Prime Minister assured that Gyumri Technopark project would be completely realized in 2014.
