The atmosphere of suspicion is disturbing us a lot. During this period, politicized people accuse each other, or in being an agent of “Russian imperialism” or “perverted West.” And, isn’t it possible to participate, frankly, without any conspiracy, be a supporter of this-or-that point of view.
There is also no trust within the opposition. Let’s assume that an opposition member is swearing an oath: “the purpose of my life is Serzh Sargsyan’s resignation.” The other opposition member reverses: “No, bro, I don’t believe you, you’re just saying, in reality you’re Baghramyan 26 project. Hey! I am different, I heartily fight for the change of the power. See what blasphemous words I used to Serzh Sargsyan.” In response to it, the first opposition member replies: “Your blasphemous words were pretty weak, now you will see what blasphemous words my activists would write on the asphalt in the Liberty Square. Even during the Communists times, such words were not written on the walls of public toilets.” “That’s nothing, my activists would jump face-to-face with the police that some of them would spent several hours at the Police Station. This is the way to fight for the change of the power.”
This hectic race, naturally, is beneficial to the authorities, who, vaguely hearing such talk, are again counting the money “earned by their sweat”. And, most importantly, these disputes deepen the atmosphere of suspicion and distrust, which no one needs, neither the authorities, nor the opposition, nor we, the non-partisan citizens.
In 90s, ANM members were accusing me of being a secret ARF member, and the ARFs were accusing me of being a secret ANM member. However, generally, I have respect for the two parties, because although sometimes they are trying (and were trying) to explain why they are striving for the change of the power or “preservation of the power.” Others repeat the common wording about “plundering” or “achievements”, which already do not say anything. When any value problem is not put forward, I, for example, become indifferent to it whether the power will change or remain the same. I think I am not alone. Let them at least say whether, apart from the power, they want Armenia to remain an independent country, or it’s all the same for them.

Although, sometimes, we also understand the independence in a very specific form. For example, yesterday I learned that Russia supports the sovereignty of Armenia with its imperial pretensions. Yes, just like the United States to Haiti’s sovereignty.
