December 16,2013 19:59

Political analyst, Sergey Shakaryants, answering the questions of Aravot.am regarding the consequences of Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu’s visit, and the interpretations found in the Turkish media, said, “I, as an analyst, have no right to accept as a basis whatever Davutoğlu has shared with the Turkish media, as he has not given a press conference in Yerevan, he did not speak, and we cannot use the information from secondary and tertiary sources.” Shakaryants finds that whatever took place in Yerevan, Davutoğlu conveyed to Turkish journalists, however, we should not admit everything smoothly what is published in Turkish, or Azerbaijani press, as the present the desired for real. “What we learned through their mass media, does not enable us to accept rejoicingly, or to perceive as news, since there are no such thing in the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s statements.”

Sergey Shakaryants emphasized that in no journalist has ever heard anything from Davutoğlu, and, practically, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edward Nalbandian, did not say anything to their journalists. “If, let’s say, Davutoğlu had come to Yerevan with some kind of message, it should also be noted that in response he had also received a message and took it with him to Ankara. I am convinced that the message of the Armenian side has been denial, rejecting, and the Turks had the subsequent defeat in the Caucasus, not being able to conduct their initiatives, compromising proposals. However, it was the last attempt by the Turks, the initiative to obtain promises from Armenia. Davutoğlu returned to Turkey in vain. Naturally, this visit was disruptive for the Turkish Foreign Ministry and the Government as it was the last speaking strategic defeat of the year.”
