The first President of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, has done so much for our country that one should be restrained from criticizing him. It would be nice, of course, that he was not back in 2007, in that case, his name would not be connected with the everyday politics, as I think it should be in normal countries. However, he is in the politics, regularly delivers speeches, and it is impossible not to discuss them. During his recent speech at his party session, Ter-Petrosyan, referring to the question of “Why Euromaidan does not occur in Armenia”, has said mainly true things.
But, it is just the half of the truth. Such things are happening on every step in our everyday life. Suppose, we say a toast: “Dear Kirakos, you’re a patriot, you have built a church in your village.” And, it is true. We are not saying that the money, which was used to build the church generated from cheating the state and evading the taxes. Well, let’s consider the first president’s speech as a toast to the Customs Union and Putin. No Euromaidan occurs in Armenia because we are Russian loving people? It’s true. But, currently, no Maidan occurs, because people no longer believe anyone. And the next “Maidan”, very likely, will take place after the sequential rigged presidential election in 2018.
Is Europe hypocritical, is it governed by double standards? Yes! And Russia, in general, is not driven by any standard, it takes the “sledgehammer” and hit on everyone’s head, just as the United States. (Saying Russia, the U.S., and Europe, I mean, of course, the Kremlin, the White House, Brussels, and not the people and their culture, which I respect).
Does the West turn a blind eye to fabrications of presidential election in 2008 and to victims of March 1? It is true. Hasn’t Russia turned the blind eye? Could people after rigged elections in 1996, 1998, 2003, 2008, and 2013 declare a president without Russia’s support?

If one side of the truth is said, the other side must be said too.
However, these semi-truths should be normally perceived: a pragmatism, real politics, and so on. The assessment of the Russian and Soviet Empire is more suspicious. Let’s not go far and talk about the modern history. If Armenians in the Soviet Azerbaijan were suffering just as much as the Azerbaijanis, both rights were violated equally, and if there was no discrimination there against Armenians, if they are not expelled from Nakhchevan, if they did not become 76 % in 1988 from 76 % in 1988 in Karabakh, then why the Karabakh movement started and why the “Karabakh” committee was established. We should have quietly waited until the Soviet Union collapsed, we would have obtained independence (without Karabakh), as it is now, we are waiting to see how the attempts of restoring the empire is proceeding. Today, member of “Karabakh” committee (those who are in the arena: Levon Ter -Petrosyan, Vazgen Manukyan, Ashot Manucharyan), apparently, have redefined their activities of 1988-90, as well as have reviewed their own views. It’s also normal, it happens. Those who were calling for jumping behind the empire train going to abyss, now they are calling for jumping onto the train and tightly hold from the train. In other words, they have adopted the very contrast of their previous tactics. The entire problem is that the train that we have got on, in my opinion, is again going to the abyss.
