Businessman Paylak Hayrapetyan does not consider the new supposition around the name of lawyer Nairi Merheje involved in offshore scandal realistic.
To recall that in his year-end press conference, the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, in response to Haynews.am question, said, “The woman who registered an enterprise in Cyprus in my name, the very woman registered an enterprise in Cyprus in the name of dead people. And, this woman is the very woman who is standing on the base of the offshore scandal. And I am also curious to know what explanation Mr. Oskanyan will provide whether it is also unexpected news for him, or his person is standing in the sources of this information, and this scandalous story has a political context.”
According to the “Hraparak”, Nairi Merheje is PAP MP Vardan Oskanyan’s distant cousin.
“The Prime Minister has found new suppositions, let him prove them. I consider the involvement of this woman in this story illogical and I do not believe it’s real. Because once Ashot Sukiasyan has sent a letter to the prosecutor’s office informing that he had registered the company so that Kchoyan and the Prime Minister would become umbrellas for his business. Now telling tales is senseless,” said Mr. Hayrapetyan.
He does not think the supposition of involving lawyer Nairi Merheje in the scandalous story follows the goal to take Ashot Sukiasyan’s name out of the arena.
Mr. Hayrapetyan said he has not even tries to find out who the Prime Minister’s identified woman is and why her name has appeared in offshore scandal. “It’s not my business, let the Prime Minister reveals it, or the one whose honor is touched upon. Let Ashot not write that I had opened it, let him write that this woman has opened it. A flow of big amounts was made on this organization. Without them: the Prime Minister, and Diocese Kchoyan, this flow could not be made. It would be better if the Prime Minister says who has cheated him, or say that it was a mistake.”
The connection between Nairi Merheje and PAP MP Vardan Oskanyan is obscure for the businessman. To our question whether it is possible to involve the MP into the scandal, he said, “I do not know him, I have never seen him, I have no connection with him. I can not say anything.”
As for the Prime Minister’s claims that he has nothing to do with the registration of this enterprise, that at the time of the registration of the enterprise he was in Cyprus, Mr. Hayrapetyan said, “He could have given a letter of recommendation, although Cyprus prosecutor clearly stated that it is impossible to register an enterprise without the presence of the specialist or the said person. Now, what new fairy tales are they telling?”
He considers the case disclosed. “The Prime Minister has telephoned the bank; the bank has developed a business plan without the document and made a mistake. In the papers, it is said that there is 10,000 tons of gold on the 800 km, and a 9 million 600,000 karat diamond at the depth of 10 meters. Where is this document? Let the bank clarify based on what document it was written. They must return my property and apologize, and those who have given money let them demand their money from Ashot. I am going to apply to all international instances, let them come and speak to me and clarify as soon as possible.”
