The fact of presenting ongoing interviews of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, which began from distance debate with the Prime Minister of Armenia, Tigran Sargsyan, is interpreted in two ways. In one case, opinions are heard that, thus, the second president is submitting a claim to re-return the policy. It is also a common view that this way they are trying to divert public attention from more important issues available in the country.
Former presidential candidate, Andreas Ghykasyan also shares this opinion. Today, he announced that “the authorities are in every way trying to divert the public’s attention from today’s acute social situation.” Aravot.am asked whether Robert Kocharyan-Tigran Sargsyan debate is one way of it. He replied, “This debate is one way of it, since there is quite a lot of attention in this debate, greater than the debate itself deserves. The real context is that the intimidation of Kocharyan’s return is becoming a political tool for the ruling party to unite its ranks and raise the internal discipline. Thus, they mislead the public and divert from the available issue.” To our next question of whether Serzh Sargsyan and Robert Kocharyan are from the same team, and whether it is possible for Robert Kocharyan to return to politics as a prime minister, Mr. Ghukasyan replied as follows, “Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan are connected with influential ties. They have the format and the ability to find joint solutions in each other directed against the public. They also can introduce the technology of changing the power. And, the public has no leverage to prevent it. Why can’t the public take control of state power and prevent the use of monopoly power by organized criminal groups for their purposes. The answer is that our Constitution allows 68 MPs and control authority of the president to control all the power.”
Media expert, Samvel Martirosyan, opines that Kocharyan-Sargsyan debate was a manipulation to divert the attention of the public. In the conversation with is, he detailed, “Kocharyan just relies on the topics that have now created activeness in social and political life. Hence, how can he divert the attention from these issues? On the other hand, Armenia is a bit overestimated in terms of manipulation capabilities. A lot of things happen in Armenia spontaneously, or there is something else hidden behind, and everything that is spread they want to consider it as a deviation from the topic. If we accept it as is, what is the main topic?” Samvel Martirosyan believes that it is more logical that Robert Kocharyan is submitting an application to return to the policy, but “not now, it is just important not to forget him and to remain in the arena for a long time.”
