Those posting materials in the Internet like to make up lofty titles. For example, “Exclusive shots from Azerbaijani subversive activities.” A naive man may think that one of our soldiers has recorded the fight on the phone. I do not even open such files, because I know they will be ordinary, certainly not exclusive interviews with the participants in the event (of course, glory and honor to our heroes), plus, an attempt to restore the events in the form of performance. Anyway, users who are unaware of these little journalistic wiles can take the bait and add a “view” to the material.
Now, “the next scandal in turn: Turkish nationalist in Yerevan.” Approximately, в городе «красные» (“the red” are in the town). In fact, Hasan Oktay, member of the Nationalist Movement Party, had come to Armenian not for the first, and I suppose, nor for the last time. What? Can only liberals and socialists come to our country? But the nationalists should not come? Or, should the frontiers ask the visitors to Armenia what kind of political, philosophical or religious beliefs you have? Has the person committed acts that are incompatible with the status of a guest in Armenia? If no, then the rest is up to his own business. Turkish nationalists in some ways aped when being photographed in the Republic Square. Is this the scandal?
Being photographed with the Prime Minister and the Catholicos, of course, is a little different. Our officials should know whom they are photographing with. It’s another matter meeting and talking with a Turkish politicians; principally, I do not also see anything objectionable here, if they have an issue to discuss. Do you think that our government and politicians need to meet only with friends of the Armenian people?
Let me remind you that in May 1993, during the war, in Paris, the President of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, met with the leader of “National Action Party”, Alparslan Türkeş. The meeting was not a secret, I can not say it for sure, because I was the poster of the news, the then president’s press secretary. Although, more than 20 years has been passed since the meeting, the first president’s opponents condemn this move until now, whereas I, as then and now, am confident that exchanging thought with this influential figure was necessary, and, ultimately, beneficial for Armenia. If the politicians and diplomats communicate only with their supporters and their lovely people, no problem will be solved in the world and within the countries.
