Multi-party Armenia – 7

January 24,2014 21:20

Although almost all in Armenian are complaining about plurality of parties, however, the parties continue to be created and multiplied. As a result of ANC fission, first “Free Democrats” were created, later the new ANM. As a result of temporary cooperation with “Heritage”, “Free Democrats” immediately became a parliamentary party, and driven by the fate and circumstances, the newly formed ANM, thanks to Alexander Arzumanyan moved from Free Democrats to ANM, also at once became a parliamentary party.

Armenia’s old and new parties do not differ very much from each other by their platforms. They all are promising a wonderful and safe future to our country, and a welfare to our people. These party duplicated platforms even state the ways and methods of desirable future, and no word about the difficulties, and though the parties’ platforms do not differ very much from each other, each of them treats its platform and provisions of the platform with reverence, while with quite contempt to the opponent or competitor political party’s platforms and ideals. This is somehow natural, because any, even the most wretched, party is striving to and longing for power even in its visions.

Unlike the politically and economically developed countries, in the post-Soviet republics, achievement of the power, above all, is a tool of initial acquisition and accumulation of capital, and it is so particularly and especially in Armenia, and though Kocharyan without a party, just professionally became the president of Armenia, it was just a result of change of situation and internal power coup, and not as a result of political struggle. And now it is more than clear for everyone that at the current stage, to achieve power in Armenia and become a president, you should at least have its own party, otherwise you will not have any effect, and you can not enter into a political struggle. And, that is why that not only the number of parties but also the members of parties are gradually growing and multiplied in modern Armenia. And, today, being non-partisan is extremely unfavorable even for businessmen and oligarchs, and it is desirable that the businessmen is involved in the staff of an influential and eminent party.

And, it is quite explicable, understandable and logical that the majority of our businesses and the wealthy are included in the RPA and PAP. In fact, the most influential and eminent party is a solid and reliable roof for a businessman and property owner. For many years, ANM, Rule of Law, ARF, and even Tigran Karapetyan’s People’s Party were roofs for various businessmen. NSDU was also a reliable roof for Hayrikyan, NDU – for Vazgen Manukyan, plus the Public Council.

Although, the parties are mainly roofs for their presidents, they are also some base for the welfare of their ordinary members. And, although the parliament, civil initiatives, and other groupings are trying to convince us that without the party and party members it is possible to create a climate and change the climate in internal political life of our country, and although pre-parliament and citizens, recently, are considerably creating a climate, however, sooner or later, they will get the form and shape of a party, or else they will contribute to success or failure of this-or-that party with their struggle.

While we were thinking about these things, Nikol’s and Sasun Mikayelyan’s Civil Agreements was self-generated and announced about its generation, whose founding members, although at this time, are non-partisans, however, they are, in fact, party and party members, because from the moment of its creation, they announced that their goals are political.
