In virtue of my work, in the process of decades, I’ve had lunch, dinner and have drunk tea and coffee with colleagues, diplomats, and officials representing Armenia, Russia, America, Europe, as well as other nations. The plot of majority of these meeting was not appropriate for publication, which enabled everybody to be more at ease. I never thought that it was some kind of a secret club, and there is something reprehensible in it.
And, recently, it was found out that if such meetings are held regularly and is called a “Griboyedov Club”, it is almost something like “Dro” structure. What is the concern here that a person comes from Moscow and gives “instructional advice” to his supporters on how to propagate in favor of the Customs Union and the Eurasia Union? But, first, the participants’ list (if it is correctly stated in the media) is as such that most of them do not abide by instructions. Secondly, “instructional advice,” as it is known, is usually done individually, and not to 10-15 people at a time.
Of course, Dmitry Kiselyov, for me personally, is neither a journalist nor a publicist. He is Putin’s propagandist. However, it is the peculiarity of our profession. The 80% of journalist and the media in Armenia are also propagandists of either Kocharyan, or Serzh, or sometimes of other forces, and have no intention to publish any news or opinion in reverse to their “line”. This does not mean, however, that we should not communicate with these journalists and the media, and even make friends. So, if I was invited to these “Griboyedov club” meetings, and I would not feel sorry for spending 4 hours per months on it, perhaps, I would have participated.
Recently, I had the opportunity to write that we need to meet, talk, and discuss not only with people whom you share your views. Unfortunately, these “taboos” are functioning among us: people are trapped in their environment, contaminate each other inside this environment with hatred and intolerance towards those beyond this environment, and do not want to see or hear anything that contradicts their stereotypes.
