“This so-called road map is just the road map of loss of independence and sovereignty of Armenia”,- so responded Ruben Mehrabyan, expert of “Center for international Studies”, at the request of Aravot.am, assessing Armenia’s accession “road map” to the Customs Union (CU).
Referring to Deputy Minister of Economy, he said “the so-called Customs Union will be holding trade relations with the EU.”
In Ruben Mehrabyan’s opinion, “all unacceptable red lines are violated by this document, point by point, and this is an additional burden to Armenia, it “hits” the pocket of every citizen in Armenia.”
Noting that Russia is now in very difficult economic situation, the expert said, “If Russia leads itself to the cemetery with its own policy, we should not follow it.” Clause 20 of the document is obvious, which defines that the agreements concluded by Armenia with CU non-member states should be harmonized with the legal-contractual base of the CU.

In this regards, Mr. Mehrabyan said, “We have surrendered to this interstate structure, which is Russia itself, there cannot be anything here about interstate.”
In summary, Ruben Mehrabyan said, “The so-called direct evidence was made public of what a shameful move we made and what disgraceful process we entered into after September 3.”
Andranik Tevanyan, Director of “Political economy” Research Institute, believes that the issue of Armenia’s sovereignty was not to be determined by the publication of the “road map” and stresses, “It stems from the policy, which is conducted by Serzh Sargsyan. It was an initiative policy, due to which Armenia is loses its sovereignty, part by part. At first, the football diplomacy, after EU Association, now giving allegiance to the Treaty of Gulistan. Customs Union was the result of pro-western adventure, it was the result of the internal policy, which was conducted by Serge Sargsyan and Tigran Sargsyan. By document, Armenia does not lose sovereignty. Armenia loses the sovereignty when one oligarch economy is created, when the business is oppressed by taxes, when they are trying to enter into share in everyone’s wages.”
Referring to the abovementioned clause 20 of the “Road map”, Mr. Tevanyan said, “Economically, the relations with the same Europe and other countries shall be regulated by the Customs Union. In fact, the same was to be with the EU Association Agreement, just in this case, the war and Karabakh processes would be accelerated, but now the process will be slow. Armenia has recorded that it has been so weakened that it should enter into relations with other countries through supranational structures. This was also stated in campaign machine Zori Balayan’s infamous letter to Baghramyan 26. Followed by this, Serzh Sargsyan was stating that he is surrendered to the Kremlin, and this is Serzh Sargsyan declared pro-western by “independent” media.”
To our final question of whether the “road map” actually generation from the interests of Armenia, or not, Andranik Tevanyan responded as follows, “The policy, which is conducted by Serzh Sargsyan and Tigran Sargsyan do not generate from the interested of Armenia. The rest are the consequences.”
