How much would the tablets cost without the government intervention?

February 07,2014 13:46

One of the Facebook users spread the news that the Government initiative, according to which, Armenian tablets must be used for teaching low grade school students, is now possible to get for a cheaper price than what was offered to school students. The Facebook user also noted that it appears that any person can “produce” Armenian tablet, and, as seen by the post, at much cheaper cost. Aravot.am asked the information security specialist, Samvel Martirosyan, whether it is true, and how much the cheapest Armenian tablet would cost, which according to the user can be created by each person. “Honestly, I also have questions about the tablet as it is not clear from the tablet producing company website of what technical investments was made by Armenia in this production. As I understand, the software uses Armenian popular operating system with open codes. Since, I’ve not heard a clear explanation of the extent of the technical contribution by Armenia, it is hard for me to assess other than in common phrases. As for the price, I also cannot evaluate, because so far there has been no attempt to implement a part of its production to be able to assess it.”
