I have read in a few places: now the Sochi Olympic Games will be over, and Putin will deal with Ukraine and Armenia. In Ukraine, the situation can be resolved in favor of Russia only in the style of “March 1”, through establishment of the “constitutional order,” which may not be approved by Yanukovych, it is unlikely that he is willing to take on such a stigma. In all other cases, Ukraine will maintain its sovereignty, no matter what the country’s politicians want or agree. Ukrainian citizens proved that having an independent state is very important to them.
It is not so essential for the majority of the citizens of Armenia. This majority does not care about an independent state, but also the state: this, in general, has emerged over the course of history. What matters to us is that “the king and agas shall take a good care of people.” For these very reasons, our strategic partner does not have to “take care of Armenia”. It is “taken care of” and that’s it. Therefore, in Armenia, people with this-or-that political interest invent “activities” for Russia. And so, it is believed that after the Olympics Games Putin will dismiss the Prime Minister of Armenia and the Government “from the office”, because though they are preparing the Customs Union documents with “stakhanov paces”, anyway, they are “pro-European” in the depth of their soul (probably very, very deep).
Let’s leave aside of how much this “hypothesis” meets the reality. Let’s also evade our extremely suspicious circumstance: being a “pro-European”, in my opinion, means first of all to respect the laws, which our authorities, the so-called, “care less about”. Anyway, let’s assume that everything is just as it is presented. What will the replacement of an official change in our lives? Absolutely nothing. As a populism, perhaps it’s worth to shout “Go to hell!,” or “give somebody a hell.” As a political agenda, it is at least crudity.
More importantly is the following question of to what extent it is true to heartbreakingly plead, saying “Oh, dear Putin (dear Obama, dear Barroso), come and save us.” If the authorities of Armenia are appointed by their decisions, what is the benefit of the protégés of aforesaid figures to “take a good care of people.” These protégés will not be dependent from the will of the citizens.
