I have not seen Lars von Trier’s “Nymphomaniac” movie and I am not going to watch it. Thrillers (“abstract”-ads) indicate that this drama is about morbid passions, malaise perception of the world, of which I am very far. I do not care about the dose of pornography, rather than what the author is saying about. If the content is bright and positive, the work of art is acceptable for me, regardless of the presence of open or closed scenes.
But, tell me please, why some people, clergymen or secular should decide for me of which movie I should or shouldn’t watch, being an adult. Which music to listen, or what book to read. Who is this person who had taken on the responsibility of becoming my as one having an artistic taste or any other, I repeat, adult person’s teacher. It reads “18 +”, that’s it, do not let children enter the hall, of course, it is also contra-indicated to show «xxx» make movies on air. Due to the fuss of “sensei’s of morality”, the children will search the film in the Internet.
I would not refer to the failure of “Nymphomaniac” screening, if prior to it, due to the hysteria of the same “national moralist”, a number of other films were not “prohibited”. And I think, whether we, people with sound and free-thinking, are not too inert. It is clear that we can not scream so loud and with such conviction of infallibility, as it is done by national and political populists.
But, sometimes it’s worth, I assure you, to go upstream, including the streams prevailing in “Facebook”. No one will thank us for it, on the contrary, we will be subjected to collective reprimand. However, sometimes it’s worth to remind people with some fixed ideas that the guarantee for the prosperity and development of the country is free, non-stereotyped, unprejudiced people’s work. If all people would constantly be only in “streams” or “gang lines”, we would continue living in the Stone Age.
In fact, I wanted long to ask what “Pan-Armenian Parental Committee” means. Did some people take on the role of a “national parent” and decide who should live how? Are they the eagles of Armenian morality? Educate your children, as you want! Give the same opportunity to me. The responsibility, as well.
