It is for the second year that May 9 is celebrated as a national holiday. Thank the Lord for a healthy human intelligence in this matter proved to be more powerful than the restless ambition to review everything. Hence, the revolution is truly over. All theoretical reasons that the communism and fascism are similar phenomena, and Stalin himself had provoked the war, no matter how true they are, there are no reasons for not celebrating the Victory Day. Our attitude toward the past is cleared from the ideological veil, with obtaining a normal human nature. We began to realize that people in that war were fighting not for Stalin or communism, but for their homeland, which at that time was called the Soviet Union, and whose part of it was Armenia. Exactly the same way, Shushi liberating heroes were not thinking about ANM or ARF. Their only goal was to make Karabakh an Armenian territory, to solve the most important problem facing the current generation of Armenia, before which all our current disputes and slightly irksome fight of the politicians for the chair fades. Fifty years later, Artsakh Liberation War will be viewed just from this very historical and non-partisan viewpoint.
The revolution is over. Interestingly, if Lenin’s statue were still standing in the Republic Square, would we undertake its dismantling? I think, no. It does not mean that we have forgotten about the truly monstrous crimes of the regime created by him, and millions of innocent victims. However, the statue was symbolizing the way passed by our nation, the state of 70 years, constituting a part of the empire, whose successor became independent Armenia. Today, in the post-revolutionary period, we can record that in the 20th century Armenians tried to create their own state for three times, in 1918, 1920, and 1990, respectively. Comparing these experiments, one can be sure that they are gradually obtaining more realistic and pragmatic nature. History lessons, of course, must be taken into account. However, throwing stones at the past, failure to admit genetic, means just to give up with own wealth.
In this viewpoint, our national traditional parties are also wealth. Their history needs to be examined, and the examples of their best representatives can be used to educate our young people. These parties so far continue to maintain their patriotic ethnic identity in the Diaspora (although with less success).
Unfortunately, they can not be integrated into political and social system of any modern state (including, Armenia), the environment, in which these organizations were established and developed is different, the way and the manner of thinking are significantly changed. Taking the role of conservation on themselves for decades, they have left behind the real life for the very decades, living in an imaginary and mythic world. But, as a historical value, as a particle of the memories of our people, everything that is associated with the traditional parties, should be sacredly maintained.
