“Armenia is still a member of the Council of Europe, and the programs, which Armenia, as well as our government, has been involved in, it has to follow them, they are left unchanged”, – so responded Ole Rasmussen, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, to the question of Aravot.am whether Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union will not hamper exercising the European case law on Human rights. He does not see a problem with Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union, and opines as follows, “I can repeat what our government and the European Union have stated. Each state has the right to manage its own destiny. We continue to assist Armenia in the same way as we had done it until now.” With regard to restrictions generating from the Customs Union accession, Mr. Rasmussen expressed the following opinion, “I do not think that Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union will limit the government to apply the European Convention on Human Rights and the European case law on Human Rights.”
