“Still at the time, when it became clear on starting the investigations in a different direction, I said that I do not think they are impaartial. We all are living in Armenia and know how the investigations are proceeding when the outcome of it does not depend on neither the investigator, nor the investigation department. The outcome of the investigation always depends on the willingness of the authorities,” so interpreted Ani Gevorgyan, journalist of CI, in the conversation with Aravot.am, referring to the decision of the Internal Security Department of the Police to suspend the service investigation on illegalities committed by police officers against Ani Grigoryan.
Recall that on February 12, a group of young RPA members hindered the ANC activists at the Mashtots Avenue conducting a campaign about awareness of upcoming rally, after which the police arriving at the destination started to detain activists, and seized the video cameras from the journalists shooting the event. The police detained activists: journalist of CI Ani Gevorgyan and Operator of «ilur» website Sargis Gevorgyan, and at the Police Department, the Head of Kentron police department, Artak Poghosyan, hit Ani Gevorgyan in the face. In this regard, the police announced that an service investigation has been appointed to determine the legality of the police actions.
As said by Ani Gevorgyan, “With regard to the incident on February 12, the police chief Vladimir Gasparyan instructed to appoint a service investigation, now this case is suspended. A case was filed by the Article of hooliganism, and so far there is no move made by this criminal case. Later, the SIS based on my application filed a criminal case, but still I am not presenting as a victim by this criminal case. The mentioned serves grounds for me to seriously doubt that the investigation with regard to the incident happened on February 12 would be impartial. The matter is that the case was not cancelled, but suspended. So-called a temporary ceasefire has started. I still have not consulted with lawyers and I do not know what I can do in such cases. The police say that it is cancelled because a criminal case is filed in the SIS. I have not consulted with a lawyer and I do not know how accurate and reasonable the mentioned arguments are.”
