The great “11”

March 28,2014 14:14

And so, Armenia ranked among 11 quite unpleasant countries voting against recognition of illegal nature of the Crimean referendum. For many of us, it is certainly a shock because I think nobody in Armenia would want its country to appear, in particular, next to Zimbabwe and North Korea. These countries are the embodiment of corruption, poverty, totalitarianism, the qualities which we want to get rid of. Russia drives us into this denied group, and we probably are unable to resist this pressure.

But let’s take a moment and leave all sorts of geopolitical issues, alliances and etc., and respond to the UN raised question of whether the Crimean referendum was legal or not. I realize that such a “romantic” question can be raised only by a person not engaged in politics. And those engaged would say what law are you talking about, and something like that, each of the elders in this world is as obstinate as a mule, all are led by double, triple, and multiple standards. It is, certainly, true. However, apart from everything else, there is a truth and untruth. And the truth is that the referendum conducted in widespread participation of foreign troops cannot be “the expression of people’s will.”

The worst, of course, is that Armenia votes not in consideration of some standards, but simply because Russia has ordered so. And if we do not listen to its orders, they tell us that the leadership of this country would give Karabakh to Azerbaijan. Or, as Eurasian ideologist Aleksandr Dugin had frankly expressed, “You will march away from Karabakh.” In addition, our gas, electricity and telephone will be turned off from Moscow. I do not know whether these threats are real or not, however, it is simply impossible to live under the sword of Damocles forever.

The representatives of political parties who are posting in the social networks approximately what I am writing now, let them exhort their “non-government” parties to come up with respective statement. Let them be a man and say, the Armenia vote in the UN was a mistake, we should have voted “abstained” or “pro”. Hardly they would say that they are afraid to hurt Putin. Instead, they will long talk about “criminal regime”.

As for Armenia, Belarus, Cuba, North Korea, Syria, Zimbabwe, Bolivia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Sudan, this “great 11”, given that our spiritual kinship, I recommend to establish G11 v. G7. We are more in number.
