“The March 1 crime revelation is very important. Failing to reveal the March 1 crime is a guarantee of impunity. Until March 1 crime has not received a complete and comprehensive real assessment, the impunity will remain guaranteed in Armenia, because today’s acting officials, NA Deputies are involved in March 1 crime, who keep taking the office and failure to reveal the crime is coming from their interests,” so commented the Head of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor office, Artur Sakunts, today, in the conversation with Aravot.am, referring to offer addressed to Armenia by the new EU report pertaining to March 1 events. The matter is about “Implementation of the European Neighborhood Policy 2013 – Annual Progress Report”, which offers the authorities of Armenia to fully investigate the deaths that occurred during clashes following the March 2008 presidential elections and and the allegations of ill-treatment in police custody and violation of due process. Artur Sakunts announced that they had published the list of participants of March 1 and soon they will disseminate a new list. “We are working on the list and in the coming days we will disseminate the amended version of the list.” We asked whether there are new revelations in the new list, Artur Sakunts replied, “It contains a lot of revelations and information, based on which the March 1 list is amended, the persons who are not involved at this point. It will be the core tool that will be put on the agenda as a claim before the authorities to start the investigation. No matter it is Serzh, or Poghos or Kirakos and others, such large-scale crime against the Republic of Armenia, unless it is revealed, we will be vulnerable. Just to say that the representatives of the Russian security service are involved in the crimes, at least in the status of experts. The EU report is just coming to fix the issues on the agenda, towards which Armenia should work. The EU sees the issues, which should be present under Armenia-EU campaign.”
