The new Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan is a political figure, and his appointment is purely a political move. When people were saying that the prime minister’s candidacy should be acceptable to everyone, it was just about the political circles, and above all, the RPA and PAP businessmen. Others opinion is secondary on the case: who has the money he would order the music.
The new government staff, probably, will also be made in line with political objectives. Apparently, Armen Ashotyan, Hrayr Tovmasyan, and Vache Gabrielyan would be dismissed from their ministerial portfolios. Personally, I would be glad that they take out their ministerial klobuks and become normal “secular” people. Although, I think that Armen Ashotyan will be dedicated to politics, and soon we will be witnessing his and PAP members new “duels”.
More pragmatic people will come to government who will not fall behind theories, and illusive images. They will halt nice but fruitless talks about “Gyumri Technopark” and making “Dilijan a regional financial center”. But, for example, the North-South modern highway should be built, not so much because we will not be able to live without it, but given the fact that a part of the work has already been started, and now quitting it will remind the story of “the second flaw”.
In contrast to the above-mentioned three ministers, who are “under the plan”, the Minister of Environment Aram Harutyunyan is absolutely devoid of the grace to communicate with society and, therefore, with the media, and during these communications he was having a weary look of a lecturer, who had to explain the basic truths to ignorant students for the 10th time. However, this is not the biggest shortcoming of this Minister; under his “skilled governance”, the nature of our small country suffered irreparable losses. If this Minister continues to hold his office, the losses will be multiplied. According to Murphy’s famous law, everything that can possibly go wrong will go wrong.
