Politicians do not like to talk with “iffy”, and in the event that our questions have the structure of a conditional mood, they are finding this method of “refraining from the question”. As long as I am not a politician, I can experiment in mind on what would have happened if Armenia had initiated the EU Association Agreement.
Russia would get very angry. The signs of anger were already visible. The Armenian driver Hrachya Harutyunyan was taken to the court dressed in women’s robe, and the “Vesti” journalist was talking about him in excessively contemptuous tone. Last summer, Russia’s “Kremlin” media, 5 times, recalled the 1977 terrorists’ attack in the Moscow subway, which was organized, according to the official version, by the Armenian “separatist” Stepan Zatikyan. And, of course, importantly, the threats related to the facts of selling weapons to Azerbaijan, and the gas price rise.
So, if the EU Association Agreement was signed, then be sure that we would not be presented less terrorists and extremists than Ukrainians. The “magnificent quartet” would be even more wonderful. It might even have come to power these days.
At the moment, our strategic friends have no reason to complain. But if the Kremlin again feels unhappy with something in Armenia and it gets angry, and let’s assume that it decides to appoint a new president in Armenia, then I can advise the decision-makers (Surkov, or someone else) on whom to stop their choice: Ashot Manucharyan. I will explain why.

Until last September 3, Armenia passed quite a long process under the EU Eastern Partnership program. Neither RPA, nor the “Quartet”, nor anyone known to me from the political forces was saying that it is a bad, negative, and even a disastrous process. They were playing games. It is now that they have identified the “challenges intimidating our security,” which offended Russia would create them for us. The matter that it would create, as I said, there is no doubt. But, the parties were not uttering a word about it for two and a half years.
And only Ashot Manucharyan was explaining what abomination this EU Association Agreement is, and the way that it takes straight to the LGBT community. Therefore, you should not instigate the others, dear friend Surkov, they can again keep playing games. While you can be confident of Ashot Manucharyan. Also, Khachik Stamboltsyan, who in this case can be appointed prime minister.
