“People, of course, will benefit from this law. So many people are working in Russia and have problems. Citizenship, naturally, eliminates them,” said political analyst Manvel Sargsyan, in the interview with Aravot.am, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recently signed law on facilitating granting Russian citizenship. The law applies to those persons who are fluent in Russian and have lived in the USSR or the Russian Empire, in the territories of modern Russia. The political analyst, in general, is of the opinion that the President of the Russian Federation “is solution their problems” and the new law is in line with the new policy of Vladimir Putin. “As to what he wants to do it through the entire post-Soviet area, we approximately see it. Artificial problems are created where Russian citizens are living and is leading to some solutions,” said Manvel Sargsyan, adding that specifically in case of Armenia there are priorities presenting pretty insignificant, but absolutely substantial risk for us. To the question of what policy the government of Armenia should execute to withstand these risks, our interlocutor said, “The authorities of Armenia are still very excited about it that people are leaving the country and the problems are becoming less for them. Probably, they are sitting and enjoying. As far as I know, once the Secretary of the National Security Council, Arthur Baghdasaryan, was quite active on this issue. He was going and in every way was supporting for the adoption of similar laws, that the condition of Armenians in RF is facilitated. In other words, they were not even hiding that they are supporting the emergence of such laws. I think it will continue to be the same.”
