Pursuant to David Shahnazaryan, the RF special services had organized “May 1” special action in Yerevan
“Long live the Armenian-Russian friendship, Rossiya, long live Putin, long live the Customs Union, we are with Putin.” With this and similar slogans, the representatives and supporters of the Communist Party organized a May 1 parade in the streets of Yerevan. They were announcing that they like Putin, and called for support of the integration process initiated by Putin. They were assuring that Armenia upcoming accession to the Customs Union. They said, “This is the destiny for the long-suffering people of the Republic, we do not need independence.”
In this regard, in the interview with Aravot.am, the Chairman of Accord Center, and former Head of Armenia’s National Security Service David Shahnazaryan stated that the parade was organized by the Russian special services. “Russia’s special services had organized a May 1 action in Yerevan against Armenia’s statehood and sovereignty. This KGB operation was held under May 1 Communist parade with red flags, “hammer and sickle” and today’s the Kremlin neo-imperialistic ideology.
The implementer were the same green little men («зеленые человечки»), who are nowadays executing Putin’s plan in the east of Ukraine – to overthrow the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and make Ukraine a part of the Russian Empire, as it is Armenia today. As in Ukraine, so as in Armenia, these actions are planned and managed from the same Moscow center. Unlike the March 1, 2008 operation sponsored by Russian special services, today the red communist flags came to replace the firearms, which more hit our statehood than the March 1 slaughter.”

David Shahnazaryan does not also consider the statement random made by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Armenia Ivan Volinkin at the 7th conference of Russian compatriots when talking about the Crimea and Ukraine that Moscow will prevent any aggressive intervention in the domestic affairs of its friendly countries“for instilling ideas that are alien to our minds and hearts.” As per David Shahnazaryan, “Russia’s Ambassador once again declares that in fact he does not recognize the sovereignty and statehood of Armenia, moreover, he insults our national dignity. There was no response from Armenia’s authorities and parliamentary faction, moreover, the so-called warm meetings were held with the Ambassador afterwards.
They are the same “green little men” that are actually ruling in Armenia. If the parliamentary factions, the executive power, and the President had a little dignity, then the Ambassador Volinkin should immediately have been declared “persona non grata”, as it was done in Georgia against Volinkin, when he was conducting a diplomatic mission there. Volinkin considers his not the Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia, but Putin’s Orthodox fascism representative in the Armenia called Russian territory. And it is not accidental that today’s event and the shooting of peaceful demonstrators on March 1, 2008 occurred in the same place of the capital of Armenia, in front of the Russian Embassy building. Today, Armenia’s de facto executive, legislative, and judicial authorities are operating in the same building.”
