We, Armenians, generally tend to making extremely alarming and apocalyptic generalization on every empty occasion, by the motives of Armenia, Russia, Europe or the world “crash”. The “Eurovision” contest is such a trivial cause, which even is not considered a serious phenomenon by the scale of show business and pop art. As to what sms messages are sent by the viewers in different countries, and what decision is made by not so much professional jury of the contest, it no way reflects the trends of global civilization. The point that Konchita of an uncertain gender was the winner of the final contest, or the point that the Armenian viewers ranked her the second, and the Russians – the third, does not suggest that Europe is collapsing or that half of the population in Armenia or in Russia is transvestites. Simply, this scenic image with its, to put it mildly, unnaturalness is more memorable, and those who feel like sending sms messages, chose the most bizarre. Exactly followed by the same logic, in 2006, the Finnish Satanic “rock halleluiah” won. Thus, Konchita’a victory is neither a national nor an international tragedy.

P.S. The Armenian “professional jury” ranked Sweden the 22th, thus proving that it was not guided by professional standards. Just like the rest of the countries’ “professionals”.
