As estimated by the leader of ARF Bureau for Armenian Cause and Political Affairs office Giro Manoyan, the U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff during his visit to Turkey has raised important issues at the meeting with the president and prime minister of Turkey. U.S. Congressman has discussed the matters of deportation of the Kessab Armenians and the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
“Adam Schiff has critically introduced the matters associated with Armenians. He has published his speech, but so far, it is not clear how the Turkish side has responded to these issues. It is because of these pressures that the Turkish prime minister made such a statement on April 23. Obviously, Turkey should make an effort to reduce international pressure on it next year on April 24. And similar pressures on Turkey will increase in the coming year,” said Giro Manoyan.
He also emphasized that the President of Armenian, Serzh Sargsyan, had raised the issue of Kessab during the visit of the French President, Francois Hollande, to Armenia, “To raise such an issue with a country like France is important, given the role of France in Syrian events. France has an important influence over the various circles in Syria, some of which are associated with Kessab problems.”
