“The Prime Minister wanted to develop an atmosphere of mutual trust, he said that he could apply sanctions, the law allows continuing with the same mechanisms, but he called for especially the big businesses to be more watchful in terms of documentation and transparency of its activities”, said the Chairman of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia (RUEA), Gagik Makaryan Minister, in the conversation with Aravot.am, presenting the details from the meeting of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan, with representatives of big business held yesterday.
According to Mr. Makaryan, the Prime Minister urged the entrepreneurs that if some things were not transparent until now, and therefore less taxes were paid or less commodity turnover has been shown, now and onwards it will not be the case. “The Prime Minister said that he is in favor of having the atmosphere of confidence, that not the government goes by the way of sanctions, but just to make it transparent, he said that he will always consistent, will be supporting the business, will not allow the business to be overloaded with taxes, sanctions or excess inspections, but at the same time the Prime Minister said that he will be the Prime Minister first for his relatives and near of kin who have this kind of businesses that everything will be equal for them too, in other words, the Prime Minister promised a warranty that everyone shall equally abide by the rules of the game, and everyone will take the same approach.” To our corrective question that the Prime Minister has urged to voluntarily go to the tax field, Mr. Makaryan said, “Yes, because there are still some things that are not compete in terms of transparency, there are always some moments hidden, phenomena, especially in big business.”
At the meeting with entrepreneurs, as in the conversation with us, Gagik Makaryan said that the Prime Minister had also promised to move forward with reforms. He has assured that he will frequently meet with the private sector to become more closely acquainted with business objectives. “He said that my time and doors are open for you, you can apply and present your problems and jointly discuss all these problems.” To the question of Aravot.am that we repeatedly are the witnesses of such promises, but they did not become a reality, Mr. Makaryan said that as long as the law in our country is not equal to everyone, unequal competition and monopolies persist, biased approach is shown to the businesses during the inspection, there would be no changes in the business environment.
