“The Quartet has already become a phrase, and often many of us forget why this Quartet was created for, why they were united,” so responded PANM board member Hovhannes Igityan to the question of Aravot.am of whether already existing disagreements on the government program do not contain risks in terms of possible divorce of the Quartet. Note that as of today, it is already outlined how the forces of the Quartet will be voting to the government program, which is not a joint position. Hovhannes Igityan recalled the issues that had brought the forces of the Quartet together, and mentioned, “Even if we take the government’s resignation as a reason, then at least the majority of the reasons unifying the Quarter now do not exist.” According to Hovhannes Igityan, the forces of the Quarter either each of them should go on its own way, or they have to create something new. Mr. Igityan has no particular expectations from the government program, he just wants that there are no “surprises” and mentions, “The government program never mentioned that one day the whole society will be imposed to pass to mandatory funded pension system, or the transportation fare will rise, or the gas system will be handed over to Russia, but, it does not matter, they will further rise the price for gas. Program is a program, but we get surprises every day. Not to speak about the hooligan occurrences that are associated with this or that official business monopolies.” The leader of the “National Security” party Garnik Isagulyan opines that the Quartet is not facing a risk. He thinks that the Quartet has appeared “before a purely moral fact” due to the formation of a new government.
According to Garnik Isagulyan, the Quartet has to wait at least 100 days for the government work. And when it turns out that the entire society does not respond any positive change, the Quartet will be much more active in its activities. To the question of Aravot.am of whether in-law relationships between PAP leader and the new Prime Minister will not restrain the PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan, Garnik Isagulyan responded as follows, “I have personally met with Gagik Tsarukyan and had talked with him about this matter. He answered that the friendship is not a political category.” Garnik Isagulyan does not see a risk in terms of breaking up of the Quartet. To our observation that this is the same Quartet that has voted “in favor of” the NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan, Mr. Isagulyan responded, “If, for instances, Artsvik Minasyan had become the Speaker of the National Assembly, well, what would change. The majority would have again voted in favor of given person. Personally, I am well disposed to Galust Sahakyan, in person.”
